Powder coating heat shield question
Thanks

Is he coating it or baking on VHT? That seems like a good deal for a proper POWDER COATING job, but I wouldn't pay that much for VHT, since you can VHT your shields at home and cure them correctly - plus the results will be almost as good if you prep them well. Taking off chrome is exhausting and can be highly toxic... hopefully whoever does the work blasts the pipes first otherwise the coating won't last long since most things don't etch will to chromium.
Again, seems like a great deal for a proper coat job... depending upon the size of the pieces, of course.

He said he is coating them...thanks for the advice man...
But yeah, I'm an OS1 stationed out in Hawaii...you prior Navy or CG?
Be sure he's doing a legitimate powder coating job. For $80 it's not a bad deal at all! Working with/removing chrome is a real PITA and it would nearly be worth $80 (at least to me) to have that done...
I was in Hawaii from '76 to '86. I was in the Army from '76 to '80, stationed at Schofield barracks and chose to stay a while after ETS.
I never should have left the Islands! I lived on Kahaone Loop in Waialua almost the whole 10 years, great little neighborhood at the time.
Anyway, aloha!
