How to make an 883 look like a 1200L?
Hello,
I am in love with the '07 1200 Low, and I can't afford it.
How much would it cost to buy one of the '07 883s and convert it to look almost identical to a 1200L?
I'm guessing either the 883L or 883C would convert nicely.

If you buy the 883L, there is little difference in the looks, some trim on the tank, and the badge or air cleaner insert. Why, it looks the same anyway? Only the Air Cleaner insert saying 883 would give it away.

The 1200L has the 4.5 gallon tank and the 883L has the 3.3 gallon tank. The 1200 has chrome side cases also while the 883 has polished.
Now the 883C has the 4.5 gallon tank but the headlight is different and the custom has powder coated side cases.
Also the 1200s have tank emblems while the 883s have tank decals.

Also the rims, seat, chrome speedometer, and the brake calipers are blacked out too, I think?
The handlebars or side mirrors look different too.
I'm aiming for an identical 883 version, with or without the chrome engine cover and emblems.

Yep the handlebars are different too. Just go to harleys website and have a look at the Sportsters in question.
It looks like you can get the 1200L and 883L with chrome laced wheels so they would be the same in that regard. The 13 spoke wheels are silver on the 883L and black on the 1200L so yea they are different.

The handlebars on the 1200L really set it apart from the entire Sportster line. I can't see another Sportster using the same handlebars.
I want to know how much it's going to cost to do this. It might end up being shy of the cost of just buying the 1200L stock.

By the time you spend all that money, it will cost you the same buying a 1200 low lol.

I love beating $30K SE BT's and having them ask "what motor is in that?" Answer: Oh, it's just an 883.

Not to pry, by I don't understand how you can't afford your new 1200, but yet want to buy a new 883 and do cosmetic work? Your in for spending $$$. Keep your 1200! .02
