Default HID Long range use

I believe I have been running a HID in a 5 3/4" adjure lamp since somewhere around 2007. I aimed it first off than tightened it up and never looked back. I have never had anyone ever flash me because of blinding anyone. The people who bitch about the HID either have encountered a person who has not properly aimed their headlight (Many people never do this in all forms of vehicles, car, bike, etc) or have no personal use with them. A round H-4 lamp should be used & a 7" will produce more light than a 5 3/4". The current LED offerings have a problem of not having enough "side light" that a motorcycle will need. I am sure in the future the LED manufactures will address this problem. The LED light produced is not nearly as bright as a HID. Projection beam HID also has this same side light problem. I still must test more but I believe that a center light(s) either (7" or (2) 5 3/4" in a Road Glide) HID lights to produce the side light and a pair of HID projection beam "passing" lamps will be enough for any riding situation. Here is an example of a pair of DOT approved projector beam "passing" lamps only Hi & low beam. Notice how the side lighting is insufficient to run as the only lighting. These are 35 watt HID and they draw 6 amps at start up and drop to 3 amps when hot each lamp. 2) 35 Watt HID lamps produce the same draw as your stock bulb approximately.

at about 50 feet to show cut off and what a oncoming drive sees.

Right hand lamp (single) only on low beam (below)

2 lamps on low beam (below)

2 lamps on High beam (below)

Anyone with experience with these?

Thanks in advance as always

You should consider using an LED headlight, I have one from HD myself works GREAT! However, Kuryakyn sells a nice LED headlight that works well too. I had it installed on my touring bike and it worked as equally well and cheaper too! Headlight and passing lamps and break lights all need to go and replaced with LED lights.. Safety and being seen is your best bet, stay safe!
