My Dad, brother, and I went to the York HD factory and took the tour. If you're within a couple of hours drive, I'd strongly recommend it. This is the biggest HD factory there is. They build the touring, softails, and CVO bikes there. It was really cool seeing everything coming together and the pride that you could feel from the workers. The attention to detail was amazing, but hey, we all know that, right!
Just as a heads up - no kids under 12 and you need ID according to the brochure i got at the Gettysburg info shop- my son was only 11 and we did not have ID's for either of the kids this summer so we did not try[:-]
Just as a follow-up to the question about kids needing IDs. I think you only need an ID if you are over 18. It is true that kids under 12 can't take the tour, but since they don't need IDs either, I'd say you could fudge it if they were 11.
My wife and I took the tour a couple of years ago when we went to Lancaster, PA for a holiday. At that time I had a Yamaha V-Star 650. We really enjoyed the tour and bought some stuff from the souvenir shop and alwo sat on the static displays.
Went on a tour in September - good idea - sold me on buying a harley - my first one - purchased a 07 Electra Glide Classic from Utica NY HD - had a Yamaha Road Star. My son owns a 06 1200 Sporster.
What would be interesting is to compare this HD factory with a metric factory in Japan. I also went through the tour in Sept. I felt it factory could be more automated.
