That was my thought also. And Yep, I've been there too. I think most of us have at one point or another.
It is possible that the petcock valve has gone bad. But those rarely give any problems unless they are VERY old.

If you were not riding on the reserve, are you sure your tank is empty? Might be a clog in the line or petcock. First culprit would be riding on the reserve, as stated. I would check into that.

Sometimes the **** can be confusing because there is a small arrow stamped onto the front of the **** that is opposite than the handle direction. Look closely I'll bet it is marked on there somewhere.
