Default Another forward control question

Hey gang, I know there are a ton of question about forward controls, but what I'm wondering is there a consensus as to who makes a decent set? The harley brand are 500+ up here in Canada, and I'm wondering if there are aftermarket options that are decent. Also, I've been googling, and finding several really nice billet sets, but nobody seems to make them for sportsters, are there any beyond the standard "stock look" sets you see everywhere? Thanks

I looked at the aftermarket sets and finally decided on the Harley set for my wife's bike. I've had others before on different bikes, but the Harley fwd controls are well worth the extra money IMHO. I've found if you buy quality the first time, you won't have to buy it again.

Get the HD set and be done with it-it's made good and fits right. My Step dad has the DS kit on his 02 883 and the bolts have broke more than once while riding-not good. just spend the money and get the HD kit-that is what I have and never had and issue at all. The HD kit is the same kit that comes stock on the 883 and 1200 C's

I recently fitted forwards. The only other firm I could find in the UK had gone bust so I had to order HD and boy I'm glad I did! Real quality and they fit really well. I used the stock pegs and the bike looks as if it was supplied like this from new - some aftermarket stuff looks a bit 'stuck on' IMO. Felt a bit strange at first because the Sporty handles well on mids but now I am used to them, I feel much more comfortable and the bike handles/leans just as well as before. I do lean back a bit so my backside huts a bit sometimes so maybe a seat or handlebar mod will be next. I do like to see my feet out in front! HD not cheap but you definately get what you pay for!!

My '04 came with mids from the factory.

I did some research and ended up buying a set for $300 from Cycle Warehouse via eBay. the Cycle Warehouse folks were easy to deal with, no problem with the transaction, but after receiving the kit I didn't like the way the rubber/grippy parts looked and attached. Nit-picky for sure, but in any case I returned them. To be clear, I have no problem with the vendor, nor the manufacturing quality of the kit.

In any case, I ended up trading another member here for their factory forwards, by waiting patiently (only took a few weeks of looking actually), and in the end I saved a few hundred dollars and ended up with factory forwards.

Based on my research, you have the following options, from cheapest to most expensive:

* trade for factory controls (I actually offered a little $ too to sweeten the deal)
* buy used factory forwards ($100-300 on average)
* buy new $300 sets of aftermarket controls from eBay/Cycle Warehouse
* buy new factory sets
* buy billet sets from a variety of vendors

They all work fine.
