not to mention it looks hella sweet black,chromed out, and that lil peanut tank is the best looking tank harley ever made..

Back in July of this year I found out what is really important about how folks view an 883. I stopped for gas in Masonville, New York. A local kid, maybe 12 or 13 years old, walking past the pump looked over me and the bike. "Nice bike" he said with a big grin. "Thank you" I said. He probably had no clue if he was seeing a new bike or a 30 year old Sportster. 883 or 1200, he couldn't give a crap. It was just cool to him. I'd bet I know what he will be riding in 10 years.
I owned a '58 XLH 883. It was my third Harley at that time and I loved that bike. I sold it 40 years ago and went on to other bikes. I now have an '05 XL883 and while it isn't nearly as fast as my '58, I love riding it just as much. It kind of got me back to the essence of motorcycling after riding a GL1500 Gold Wing for 14 years. The Gold Wing is a fine bike, but it's more like a two-wheeled convertable car with the top down, if you know what I mean. Unless I decide to change to a Heritage Softtail (unlikely), I'll probably be riding the Sportster until I get too old to ride or die. Great bike and getting better.
