On the old school Sportster and current big twin style forks they're fine I think. I haven't seen any for modern 39mm forks. I'm not saying they don't exist, just don't think it's a great idea when longer fork tubes aren't all that expensive. 39mm Dyna forks are 2" longer. If you were closer I'd trade you for your stock fork tubes. I seem to be shortening fork tubes quite often.

If they are machined like these I think they'd be ok. I would be leary of them for a while but after a couple hundred trouble free miles it would make me feel better I guess. Thing is, the part of the tube where your fork cap threads in isn't designed for the type of stress a fork extender adds. BUT, personally, I do things almost every day that people tell me are silly or dangerous.

I've never though about that but that's a great idea.

I think I should clarify, I wanted to put clip ons over the top tree instead of under it. Installing these then clips ons would be exactly what I need.

Yeah that's what I figured. Cool idea. I have a bike that I slid the forks through enough to run clip ons that way and yes, I bottom out sometimes. It's rough.
