Good to great add on’s are the name of the game even Harley knows this as they sell all kinds of stuff to rig your ride.

I am willing to spend the money for a good cooler as this is the LIFE BLOOD of the bike, not to do so would be foolish.

Thanks for the input on synthetic oils, it will help immensely.

Thanks all for the input and keep the chrome up.

Regards,
Totally and utterly disagree with you on this one. I just bought a new car a little over a month ago. If my car suddenly dies at 50,000 miles I'd say it's a piece of crap. I expect something to work CORRECTLY from factory with proper maintenance.

If you have to add an oil cooler, Harley's not engineering their bikes correctly. If an oil cooler is necessary, they should come with one from factory. Now I'm not honestly sure how many miles 50,000 is for a bike's motor/tranny.

As I understand I should get 100 - 150K miles out of this bike before any heavy rework is required.

I live in Israel where things get hot, so additional coolers added from the factory would seem to be a good Idea from Harley but they don't do that. We buy the upgrades we believe we need. As oil is the life blood of the bike keeping her cool is the ultimate and even Harley has synth oil, what do that say!

I have looked for synthetic oil here but it is not imported, not Amsoil (I contacted them), not Mobil1, Only HD synth, so I need protection (I got the flack jackets etc... thanks).

My concern is lifespan, running cooler is better so I'm gonna add a cooler (not for beer but who knows, then I need to add AC system bla bla bla).

Keep it on the tread bud,

There are always several reasons why manufacturers don't design "everything" into the car/bike/whatever. They are limited in design by many factors, including but not limited to; space, additional maintenance obligations, BUDGET (the big one), production costs, etc.

To imply that any internal combustion engine that is oil/air cooled would have no need for a device that reduces the temperature of said oil is completely ridiculous.

I think it would be a good idea in the OP's case because he is in a very hot location without access to lubrication that runs cooler and is more stable. The bike will handle it either way, but there's nothing wrong with adding a cooler.

Are the overseas Harleys set up to run on the leanside like the US models? If so do something to enrichen the FAM and she will run cooler.
