Default 103 in. kits?

Hi,
I'm wondering if its out of the question for 103 in. kits for these sportsters? I saw one online but its only good to the 2003 models. Anyone know of kits or swaps done on a 2012 model? like the XL883N?

You'd need to get a lot of custom work done to go to 103". Biggest kits i've seen online for the sportsters have been 100". Don't forget it's not just the kit, you need a lot of parts to go around it.

This is true, probably need a new transmission that can handle the power on top of that as well as any other parts to make it fab in there. even 100 kits aren't that bad. Basically just was wondering if there was anything bigger than a 1200 kit.

I hope you realize how outrageously expensive this is going to be, and how unreliable it's going to be. your going to be paying 8k, for the bike, and then 3k ontop of that for the kit, then you may have to look into s&s Super Stock cases to handle the power so that'd be 2,600, then your going to have to look at beefing up the trans, which could run up to 1500 on that deal, so all in all your looking at $15,100...you'd be better of buying a 2012 Superglide custom for 13,000 and have the ability of making payments instead of having to come out of pocket, plus you wouldn't be down for 5 months building it, but the main reasoning is you will never get your money back from it, if anything it will turn most people away simply because they think if it has been through that much modification then it's been dogged out bad. Hope you dont take this the wrong way. Best Wishes. -Joe

Thanks I appreciate the input, you are right. I just like the size of the sportster, the dyna's and softails seem too big for me so I was just looking at options but its true it would cost a lot and be unreliable.

if your just looking for a big engine in a smaller sized frame, I'd say go 1340, you can pick up big twin evo engines all day long for 1800-2000 bucks, then go with the hardtail frame you want and you have the same setup, honestly 1340 or 88ci compared to the 103ci there really isn't a difference. and in all honesty, when they started coming out with these streetglide 103s I had 3 different people come into the shop. The 103' kit on the 96 twin cams was a good setup, but these guys were dialing down there idling to get that massive thump, and the problem was the top end was such a huge bore, at low idle the topend wasn't getting enough oil. and it burn itself up. We all dream of stroker kits, and massive pistons, but all in all its not for the street. These guys you see with shovelhead strokers, yeah they look good but that bike only sees the road maybe 3 times a year, or bikeshows.

For the size of the 883 iron and power I'm impressed and ride this thing hard every day. Coming off of a 96 tuned touring bike... I'm not missing a thing.
