Its got about 3000km on it, and it seems like a pretty fair price (He'll give it to me for the list price plus the tax).
Thing is...its about 10 hours out of town. I can fly there and check it out...or I could just buy it sight unseen. I know I should probably go and take a look in person at it....but honestly, I'm not sure exactly what it is I'd be looking for. Its my first sporty!
I sat on a bunch at the dealers and I know I like them from that perspective....but am I crazy for just wanting to buy the damn thing without schlepping all the way out there?
I would work the deal over the phone and start 2000 less then what they are asking for it. Sporty's have terrible resale value, and if thats what you want, then wait for your price.
Probably is more in Canada, but sporties are a dime a dozen and in this economy you can get a killer deal if you take your time.
Do you have craigs list in Canada?
I've been checking it out like crazy. I'm really hung up on getting something new or as close to new as I can.
I was originally set on the Iron...but after a quick chat about the insurance costs I'm really heavily leaning towards the 1200s.
The 48 is pretty much the one for me...but new is a little more than I want to spend...so the 'almost new' route is going to be the way for me I think.
I'll sit on this a little longer, and then try and talk them down. I'm definitley in no rush...I'm not looking to buy until Jan/Feb at the earliest...so I can be patient. Just trying to do my due diligence beforehand.
After checking out Canada's Blue Book...it's real close. 7200$ trade-in value. So...I think you might be right.
It's hard to get a good deal from a Dealer! I would try to work a deal on the phone! Negotiate an out the door price, which includes tax, title, dealer fees, etc.
If you like the bike and can agree on a price, your a happy new 48 owner!
I have better luck with private party purchases but it can take time to find what your looking for!
