Two-up Nightster Bobber???
The forward controls still seem cramped for my 6'2" self. I would think I'd end up with +2 - +4 extensions, but I haven't looked into that at all yet. I still have no idea if I will want the drag bars at triple clap height or (hopefully not) raised up some. I love the way the 1.5" raised tanks look, but wonder how in the hell you go about cleaning up the plastic covers and wire harness under there. I plan on relocating the speedo and adding a tach, probably relocating the ignition switch as well, but I didn't even notice where the stock location was. Doesn't look like there is but 1/4" max of room between the fender struts, so a fatter tire is probably out? The front fender has to go and the rear chopped up as far as I can go and still support a Badlander.
I like the feel of the stock seat, and think the Badlander seat would work perfectly for two up. Is there a more low-profile two up seat however? How about a more low-profile single seat? I'd go springer seat, but again with the cleaning up wires and not sure how fast to switch to Badlander. I think if I did the tank lift, I would swap the stock seat out for the one that comes on the super low. I can't imagine adding 350 lb. of riders to this bike...I really hope there is "room" and enough power to support this.
How much HP is the stock 1200 cranking out? Where are the "big gains" for this motor besides the cheesy e-supercharger? I'd like some really aggressive cams and maybe headwork, but don't necessarily want to tear into the top / bottom end at this point. Will the stock fuel pump / injectors support cams, headwork, intake, exhaust, and tuning? Cast or forged internals? At that point would I be in custom tuning territory? If I'm not going to see some significant gains or too drastically impact the torque curve negatively, then I wouldn't want to invest the time / money of course. I guess I'd be after a Stage 2 setup. After some research, I'd think that with 04+ stock heads, I'd want N4/N8 or equivalent cams.
I nearly bottomed the front and rear suspension just setting on it and bouncing a bit. I assume I can just upgrade the front fork springs and replace the entire rears? Is this ridiculously expensive? I usually re-work my own forks on the dirbikes...these don't look any worse, but I have no idea. Any help appreciated!!!
If it helps to have a comparison here at all, we put about 5k mi. on a '79 KZ650 one year. That is the only street bike I have to compare against.
