I use the blue locktite that comes in a chapstick type container. It works great and won't drip all over the place.

+1 on this. You also want a torque wrench in inches and pounds. This prevents loosening of bolts too.

If you don't have Loctite, just use milk of magnesia. Works just as good as Loctite but will not cook off. Also does not affect the torque specs.

Honestly, I don't use loctite on all that much stuff. I have never really had a problem with bolts/nuts coming loose that I don't want to. I'll just list it on the things I have used it on so far:

driven pulley (rear wheel)
brake rotor (rear wheel)
swingarm bolt

Everything else gets tightened to spec and checked at regular intervals. I have never had something vibrate off.

This is very true. I know some guys that use clear nail polish, but I have never used it myself.
