Default Shocks for 2-up...HD or Progressive?

Wondering if the $280 factory ElectroGlide air shocks would work as well or better than the $400 Progressive 412 / 440 series shocks. I'd like to be able to adjust for solo and 2-up. Obviously the air shocks will accommodate, but not sure if the other will, or how they compare. Thanks!

Can only compare the Progressive 440 (HD) to the factory shocks that came on my sporty but for what it is worth...

I do a lot of two up riding and together, the lil woman and I are quite a load (pushing 400+ lbs). The 440's are infinitely adjustable, do not require a tool, and look good to me. I crank em up about 1/3 for the two of us and back them off completely for just myself. You kind of have to come up with your own system to keep track of how you have them adjusted as there are no markings other than the groves on the upper part of the shock.

I have nothing to compare to but really happy with the upgrade.

I dunno about the air shocks on a Sporty. No experience with that, but the Progressive shocks are great. And you can find them for WAY less than $400. I'm not sure exactly, but I think mine were around $180.

And the little spanner wrench you need to adjust the Progressive shocks is only a few bucks. The little pump you need to properly adjust the air shocks is $49.95. Just coincidentally, my air pump shock adjuster box is at my feet right now.

If you buy Progressives, get them from a dealer who will make sure you get the correct springs for the way you ride. Same advice applies to all spring shocks. Don't guess what springs you need, get an expert to guide you in making the right choice! It can make a great difference to your comfort. I have custom-built shocks on both my Harleys and it doesn't cost any more than buying them blind.
