just found that site yesterday actually. those parts are all bolt ons an can be bought from a catalog in japan. how fvcken cool is that? anywho, i know what i'm doing for the rear pipe but i can't make out where that front pipe is is held up on the end. i LOVE those high mounted mids though! got some torque cones in the mail and i'm gonna swap out the copper exhaust gaskets, that should do away with the flame and get me my low end torque back. it's fvcken cold here in philly!
Wow what a difference the torque cones make. Bikes running like it should now. A lil pop on decel but the old pipes did that too. I'm happy with that but I'm gonna pull the plugs and have a look see. However, the ends of these pipes def need to get hung up. The back one should be easy, gonna mount that to rear bolt on the sprocket cover, but the front one is bothering me. No spot really on the motor to mount it to. Wait...after further inspection it looks like the bike above has a piece of round bar running from the bottom bolt on the sprocket cover to the front pipe. Maybe tacked straight to the back of the pipe because I don't see a clamp or anything. Hmmmm.....
That just might work hutchy! It's like a little hanger one going one way for the rear pipe and one goin to the front. Nice. Don't know how the fvck I missed it last time.
The rear is easy, just use the factory clamp and bolt it to the sprocket cover,
And as for the front... If you didnt want to weld the pipe, you could use a similar clamp as the rear, just put it at or near the end, then bend a piece of flat or round bar to attach it underneath the sprocket cover.
Or even something like this guy did, thats a view from underneath a bracket mounted under the sprocket cover that extends to the front exhaust pipe and just hose clamped it on.
thanks brutha....i have something in mind for the front turn sigs to move them down around the pegs, a la CO. seriously thinking about a tank dude....
well you been misled and or haven't checked out rene at mercury moto. he's already selling hd efi pump plates that weld right in to any tank dude. done and done.....
thx jones. i've got my mind made up though should i go with a new tank, rene's skills are top notch but thx for the suggestion. never know, rene might have a two year wait for work by the time i'm ready to pull the trigger. i might actually keep the tank i got right now, cause it's a bad *** little peanut and paint it with some old school crazy orange style flames.
So things change and and my mind is one of them. Gonna have Rene make me a tank. 2.2 tall and short and ill retain the rear tank mount so I can keep my current seat setup and the front will be tab mounted into the frame. It won't be overnight and I haven't even got a quote yet but I'm thinking somewhere in the five hunge range. Need to wait for tax money but he may actually get started with a deposit. We'll see. I'm stoked. Oh he made me a little mount for the top tree pinch bolt for my rear view. Should look like the attached pic. I mulled over clamps for the fork tube and to be honest thought they'd look like ****. The one he's making me is slick and only charged me a few bucks for it. Stoked again.
Here are some pics you've been asking for BMX, that I have hella procrastinated on. Just snapped these just for ***** n gigs. Still need to clean up bars and add a mirror but I still ride it as is. Pics don't do the tank n such justice. Ill take better pics eventually when it's not raining.
