actually, it is a alternator,
the stator is the part that holds the coils.
the rotor is the other half of the voltage producing device called a alternator..
the stator is usually the failing part, because the permanant magnets in the rotor seldom fail.
Yeah...that's right. In the early pre sunrise hours of the morning, I was just remembering the PITA part I keep having to replace.
The suit I'm looking at would pull a bit of juice. When they list the amperage for those types of devices its listed at full power right? So if I was only running it at half it should draw less amps right?
Total of 13.7 amps.
I would not be able to run it at full blast. But I don't think I would need to. Also how hard is it on your charging system to put such a demand on it?
Is it posiable to put a higher amperage system in it? If so how difficult is it to change out the parts?
Yeah, you can't run all of that. And Frankly you don't need it. I have the jacket liner and gloves. Once you can keep the core body warm, legs and feet will be fine. I have taken interstate rides at full speed for over 85 miles with temps in the single digits. With that setup, just a pair of insulated bottoms and chaps, I was toasty warm.
And yes, those electrical draws are when it's all running. But the way the regulator works on that equipment is like the thermostat in your house. When it's running, it's a full demand. The controller just determines the frequency and duration of when it runs.
If you look at the heated gear at a Harley dealer, the jacket liners have a thick manual that lists every HD model and year, and what heated equipment combination you can run safely with each bike.

I have plugged in my iPhone, iPad, and heated gear through same system oh and gps and a radio while having heated gear or charging something ( not both ) on my old sporty
For the garage door opener part, pick up a keychain opener + clip it to your jeans belt loop. It'll hang below your jacket, outside your chaps + you don't need to fumble thru a bag to find it when you wanna open/close the door. Also, I've got 2 bikes so it works whichever one I'm on.
