Another from Figure Machine. Really nice parts and the best customer service you can find. They make a few different air cleaner styles right here in the USA! This is my OL's XLFlow-R5 (five inch) in chrome with powder coat and she loves it because it's smaller than stock. It can flow all the air you'll ever need.

DK Custom has a line of air cleaners HERE. They use K&N filters, and stick out about a little over an inch LESS than the stock cover.

They flow Very well at 5.875 inches in diameter.

Here is just one of the faceplate designs available today.

This is the one I have on my ride and it will be on the site and shipping next week.

Agreed! I love the look of the S&S AC cover. Not as much of a fan of the S&S carb as the Mikuni , but the S&S has a better look for sure. I've got the Screamin Eagle AC setup on my bike with the original "ham can" cover. Seems to work great and keeps the "original" look.

I think Scuba sold me on the Figure Engineering a/c. I've been looking at them for awhile.

Default A Sidetrack, if you will

From what I understand, ACs that outflow stock will need ECM recalibration. Therefore, if they say that no recalibration is necessary, it is basically stock. Am I correct in this line of thinking?

Once we get past that, how do we figure out who has the best airflow?

It is the prevailing thought that if you change your A/C setup to higher flowing, but leave the exhaust stock, then the ECM can adjust for the difference.

If you change your A/C AND exhaust to higher flow then some sort of tune/fuel management/calibration is needed because the ECM cannot adjust for that much change.

I agree generally with that...however, I think that stock is too lean even if you don't change a thing.

I am running a free flowing exhaust and A/C and am using the X14ied's. Would a tune be better...yeah, but it is running pretty good as it is.

Good questions on which has the best air flow.

I think the only real way to know is to use the same bike, the same day, same dyno and just do a pull on the Dyno with each one right in a row. Could get sort of expensive.

In January we are going to be publishing some Dyno pulls using our HiFlow 587 A/C and Thunder Torques compared with the stock set up.
