Default Powdercoat, Plating, or Paint?

I'm considering disassembling my stock rear shocks and making the springs black. Probably go with a gloss, but possibly a matte black look.

What would be best? Powdercoat, black chrome plating, or black paint?

Thanks,

John

Before I got new shocks I painted the springs on my stockers with Rustoleum oil based paint. I didn't even diassemble them. Just gave the springs a really good cleaning and carefully painted them with a small craft brush. It took forever, but it came out nice. I ran them that way fof about 6 months before I bought slammer shocks. The paint actually held up really well.

Black Chrome is radical, but I'm sure cheap spray paint would be just fine and more economical.

honestly by the time you took them apart and blasted them to powder coat/plate them... you could buy an upgraded system. spray paint will do the trick for you

Paint it is. I actually have done a few parts in Hammerite black. Speedo cover, fork sliders, shift lever, air cleaner insert. Planning on doing the same to the lower triple tree and top engine mount. Looks like iron, pretty satisfied with finish, very durable and minimal fade.
