I am in the same boat ! but i think im going with the 4" risers with a slight pull back ,i talked to the parts guy where i am buying mine and he said i could return them for another set if i did not like the way it turns out. i figure i could do a mock up without bolting everything together to see if it looks good and the grips are in the right place. i think the drag bars will work with the stock risers ,mine are 2" but you will be leaning more forward to reach the grips !

I am no expert on the subject, but can tell you that the stock risers (which I believe are about 2") will acomodate drag bars on an XL or 883 with the smaller 3.3 gal peanut tank. I had to change out the front rubber brake line as it will be at the end of it's 6" reach, so you should therefore change this flexible line to a stainless one and add a couple inches of length. On the Sporster L and C models, I think HD installs a taller riser with a slight pull back design as bikes with the wider gas tanks require more clearancing than the smaller tank bikes. I myself like the stock risers and the narrow width drag bars and I am having a set installed on my XL Sportster this week.

If you care to wait a few days, I will be picking the bike up and I can post a few pictures of it if you like. I think the bikes with small tanks look killer with short drag bars and stock risers. It's that slammed pro stock look that I like so much. Stay tuned and i'll get those pics for you by Friday.

FYI, HD Drag Bars come in narrow and wide versions and they are all under $50.00 to 60.00 or there abouts.

I'm running a set of 32" wide drag bars I picked up from J & P Cycles. They are under $30.
They also carry stock width drag bars.

I have 6" straight. If you want 4" straight or pullback riser, click here. You can still find them cheap on ebay. To pullback or not depends on your riding position, I have no problem with my straight riser, some people prefer pullback for a comfort ride. But remember if you get the 4" pullback, the handlebar may be sitting a bit lower. I suggest you to sit on the bike and have someone to tap measure. That's how I did before I order my risers and bar. I'll post them as soon as the upgrades are compete. That could be Wednesday or Thursday if things go well. I'll PM you when the pics are posted on the forum here. I think you'll like it, since it does sound like we are both after the same look.

Im looking at some drag bars on ebay right now, they say they are new and they have a 4" risers on them and the bars are 24". I do want the 4" risers, but have heard alot of people here go for the 36" bars i believe. Before i bid on these, is 24" long enough? Seems with shipping i can get them for around $25 if no one else bids on them. I just want to make sure they will work with my bike which is a 2000 883. Heres the link,
