Why so? I plan to make modifications and think EFI is better. Either way, you are going to have to reset the fuel air mixture. EFI or carb, has to be set. You can't have a stock 883 carb and run a NRHS 1250 kit with air cleaner, exhaust, cams and headwork and hope it works.

EFI gives me more precise control of the system. Of course to do that you have to have a little more understanding than "trial and error" which is the price it demands for the precision. It doesn't take much knowledge to make a can of soup from Cambells but it takes a lot to make a fine soup from scratch.

I miss the simplicity of tuning by replacing jets, adjusting the mix screw and adjusting idle with a simple screw adjustment. Now it takes expensive programmers and/or dyno time to do the same thing + all of the electrical components that have the potential to take a crap.
EFI is great until you want to modify your bike or something takes a crap.
+1 I agree.

too many electrical sensors and the computer controls everything . I get nervous over how much potential there is for electrical problems on these newer bikes. I love mine but when it gets older and I have to replace parts I think its gonna get expensive.

They told me the same thing about my car too. The sensors have been pretty reliable. I have 350K on my car and I can say it doesn't owe me anything for all the flawless miles it has had. Only thing is that the day of the shadetree hacker is over. Now it calls for some investment of money and time. However for what it gives back in return, I can't really complain.

When your ancestors lived in a cave, there weren't as many issues as you have to deal with when you own a home. Sure, I have to clean the crapper and what not with it. However, I don't think I want the days of the outhouse.
