Default Handgrips

Doing handgrips on my bike when they come next week. Just had a few questions.

What kind of glue do I need for my left grip?

And in this video guide http://www.ehow.com/video_5538516_re...bar-grips.html he's using lube on the right grip. What kind of lube do I need to use?

Thanks.

I just did my grips no new bars...

no glue on the left, just spit in it to help get it on, and the throttle sleeve I'm running dry

maybe that's wrong but I'm not having any issues

Actually...I followed a recommendation from another forum to use hairspray. Works like a champ on the Left grip. As far as Right grip on Sporty - never heard of lube...aren't they TBW too...??

Hair spray.

Used when I rode dirtbikes. Helps lube it to get it on the. Dries lime glue to keep it there

I don't know what the deal was with mine, but the new grips (Kury Isos) I got did not fit tight enough to use hairspray. I ended up having to rough up the bars with sandpaper, and used Loctite 2-part 60 minute epoxy. My original stock grip fit loosely too, it was only held in by the flange on the grip that connects to the control, nothing else.

I put Kuryakyn ISO grips on my bars back in '05 and they came with a small tube of cement for the left side. Never used a lube on the right side other than a little dish detergent to slide the grip on to the throttle tube. When the detergent dried (a few minutes), all was good and the ISO grips have been keeping me happy ever since I installed them.

I put new grips on my '07 Sportster a couple of weeks ago. Either the instructions that came with them or my service manual (can't remember which) said to put a small amount of graphite on the handlebar before sliding the throttle grip on. These were HD grips with a glueless design, so no glue on the left grip. By the way, and you may already know this, but the throttle cable and idle return cable are a pain to remove from the throttle grip. Be sure to use the cable adjusters to put as much slack in the cables as possible before trying to remove them. And keep an eye on the brass ferrules - they're small and bounce real well if they hit the floor.

For rubber grips i've always put gasoline in the grip, dump the gas back out, and hurry up and slip them on. the gas will very lightly melt the inside wall of the grip and makes it super sticky. White lithium grease on the throttle tube.
