Default install fork gators?

Thinking of installing fork gators on my 2003 883R. How difficult might that be? Would I just need to remove the forks from the upper triple tree and slide the gators down? Has anyone installed them?

Yep it's that easy. You'll also have to remove your current fork slider cap.

Depends on the Gators you order. On my 06 street bob, the gators I ordered from J&P Cycle were designed to fit over the stock slider cap.

Those things are decorative, correct? I mean, there is a seal below it.

I'm thinking of removing mine too, but I want to feel confident that they do not serve a function. Since this is my first bike in a long time, I am do not know what other bikes have for a seal on the forks.

Also, if you can, I'd love to see a pic of your Iron without them.

I leave the caps off of mine. It doesn't hurt anything.
