DVLA in the UK are not interested what it's 'official' colour is, but what it's general colour is, in other words, 'red' or 'orange' or some other simple description. By all means identify what it is for your own interest, but don't get too fussy with DVLA! They're simple folks.....

The colour was just out of interest, bronze is going on the V5 as per the old Irish docs...
It was the model specification I was interested in really. I've filled in the paperwork as an XL883C but when looking at insurance etc for the year its only listed at XL53C ...
Also, I am re-registering the bike in the UK and I am not sure what I should put it down as? An XL883C or an XL53C - or does it not matter?!
No difference between XL883C (US) or XL53C (EU) except for their original intended country/continent of sale. For 2004+, after the introduction of the rubber mounted frames, they all became the XL883C.

There are various VIN decoders that should clarify some ID features. I am fairly certain there is also one on Harley's website, although you may have to register to use it. That will tell you as much as can be gleaned from the original spec and may fill a few gaps.
