Camping gear ??

If you need more than a solo, here is another excellent tent, 5 lbs. There are a ton of reviews and a video review. Stick with the big names for something like this, that lifetime warranty from North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Marmot, etc... is some piece of mind. They don't put that behind junk, plain and simple.

Some specifics worth mentioning
Ok here are a few things that I couldn't live without. These are world class and in many cases not cheap but indispensable.
Trangia Swedish mess kit - probably one of the more famous on the planet at:
http://www.trangia.se/english
There is a Liltech kettle that fits inside this kit so it adds no space and a few grams of weight:
http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/Hiking...ech-kettle.jsp
We use a 4 litre water filtration and bladder system:
http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/Hiking...-water-bag.jsp
And the filter is a hose with a pump you can put into any water in north america, screw on to the bladder and pump fresh water - no travellers diarrhea etc.
There's more but too much to post here. We learned from some folks who go so far in the bush the closest car is a week's walk away etc. Serious campers, but why not learn from the best?
Hope this helps - I love moto camping too.

I hike and I camp light on my Rocker. I have camped for years in a gortex bivy bag (1 person). They are great. It's like a sleeping bag made of waterproof gortex but no insulation. It has a zipper, you put your sleeping bag inside (I have an ultralight/teeny). The bivy has a mesh on top part for nice nights (keeps the bugs off you) or it zips right up as tight as you want. We use them 4 season in new england without any problems. Weighs 1 pound. Costs about $100.00. Got mine at LL Bean.

Ive done a lot of hiking/camping in my life but thats not the kind of camping I plan on doing with my bike. Ill be taking the backroads but not in the outback The only cooking items Ill need is something to make coffee in the morning (must have). Ill still be eating in dinners and restaurants.
