Default New, to me, 06 883 with dead speedo

I’m really kinda desperate for some help with my dead speedo. I’ve searched and searched but haven’t been able to find info on my problem. I just picked up a used ’06 883 Roadster. The bike came with a dead speedo, completely dead, no needle movement, no lights, no ODO. Bike has a brand new battery, charging around 14v, previous owner knew about the speedo but she had no idea what caused it.

I’m waiting for my new manual to come in the mail and could use any help from someone who has had the same problem.

Trace all the wires, take the speedo off and test the wires, including your dummy lights.

Has the bike been laid down???? look at the pegs and pipes. It has a sensor that recognizes when the bike goes over. Maybe its malfunctioning or bad and causing the gauge problems

get a circuit tester or voltmeter and make sure there's power to it. If the speedo is bad you consider a Dakota Diigital unit to replace it.

The speedometer is dead. I started by checking the fuses they're all good. Followed the wiring, all connectors tight. Pulled the speedo, it has 12V. At that point I got the manual, did the tests in the manual, turn key to ignition with the odometer button depressed, nothing. No odo back light, no lights displayed.

Manual says replace the speedo. Not sure what else to check.
