I just installed some 8" z's and I'm having trouble with them slipping since they don't come knurled. What have you guys done to fix this?

Thanks in advance

I just tightened the speedo clamp down on my keystones. I didn't have any trouble with mine slipping are you sure you're tight enough?

Thanks man that worked, I didn't have the speedo bolts cranked down all the way before I did the other two.

On a side note, you could always take the bars in and get them knurled.

I can get them done for free at a shop my buddy runs, but I think it's only like $15-$20 at any standard shop the last time I checked.

Not bad for security while turning. Of course, it requires you to remove and strip the bars.

someone mentioned some type of tape they wrapped around their bars, i think it was in the dyna section, they said it looked similar to sand paper I think. Ill look round and see if i can find it again.

Just a thought, maybe instead of tape use some kind of bed liner type paint, like herculiner and paint around the area of contact to give it a rougher surface to gripe to.

This little trick worked for me when I had unknurled bars that could move:

Cut up a thin aluminum beverage can so you have two strips about 5" long each and as wide as your bar clamps. Wrap each strip around the bar in the direction that would tighten the strip when the bars were rotated toward the rear. Put a small piece of scotch tape on the end of the strips to keep them from uncurling off the bars.

With the aluminum strips on the bars, put the bars into the clamp(s) so they are rotated slightly forward of their final postion. Then snug the clamp bolts leaving just enough slack so that it takes some effort to rotate the bars towards the rear and into their final postion. Then tighten the bolts the rest of the way.

Emery cloth, you can buy it at any hardware store.
