In your first post, you kept going back to the custom.

Some terms:
Peanut tank - small, tall, narrow.. Classic Sportster - the one you didn't like.
4.5g tank - the wider flatter tank on the custom and the low.

The nightster, iron, 48 have a sleeker, more stripped down look to them, but at the expense of some comfort and fuel.

The custom looks bigger. The fat front tire started in 2011, I believe so you'd be in the market for one with the 21" skinny up front.

The reason that all of the bikes that you see look so different is because they are a great platform to start with and modify. Bars and a seat will completely change the look and feel of the bike.

Here's my 07 1200C(ustom) ... next to a Volusia. lol

there is a 08 nightster in KC I am looking at.
listed $6400 w 8k on the clock... just a cheap bike? also, anything to be concerned with? ill have to do most of the dealilng over distance before possibly going to get it this weekend if we decide to make the deal.

other question, many of the nightsters are 1 seaters that ive seen. is it as easy as buying a new seat and pegs to get the 2 seater?

I think the changes to foot peg position are huge, but you can change that on any of them. Look at hight and ground clearance issues. If you want go over show you should avoid the real low bikes. Changing the hight will cost a lot more than changing the pegs, seat or bars. One of the best things about Harley is the way you can change it up.
