I was going to say don't give up on finding a deal at a dealer. Bought the wife's 08 883L for under 6k with 1.700 miles on it and 3k in chrome and accessories. Person who owned it was not comfortable on two wheels and traded in on a Triglide.

Next noob question.... I saw some other threads about this but the prices are.... well I'm breaking the bank on the bike lol...

a 2 up seat with removable rear for relatively cheap? can i get a pass seat attachment for the seat that is already on it? I go to the dealer saturday, so maybe I can get them to throw something in there for me....

HD makes a passenger pillion that you can attach and take off for 2up riding that runs about $80 (I think). However, you will also need to buy passenger pegs and the peg mounts which will run you a little over $100. See what they'll throw in.

Part #51744-07A will work with your stock Nightster seat. A lot of people complain about it scratching their fender though.

Ya, I saw something about a quick fix with a fender guard or some foam or cloth.... Any of that good or is it delaying the inevitable. Is a belt guard a must have for 2 up riding ?

I'm not gonna bother to read every post up to this point but did anybody mention that underneath the sportys are all about the same at least from what I know of the '05 and up sporty - frames & engines that is. 883 or 1200. The custom & low have the exact same suspensions but different foot control locations (mid or forward) and different handle bars. The super low is basically a low with custom foot controls, handle bars and a fat front tire. Then there's the optional tanks depending on the model. All the others; Iron, Nightster, 48 etc. have about the same (shorter-travel) suspension & same foot control options as the custom & low but not the same tank options as the custom & low. Everything else is add-on according to personal preference and there is virtually no end to the swapping, interchanging and after-market possibilities - pretty much all bolt-on type stuff. Seats, handle bars, tanks, pegs & mounts, bags, windshields, lighting options, chrome, exhaust mods, mirrors, grips, shocks, forks, lowering kits, wheels and colors just to name a very few. And I'm sure I missed a couple hundred details (which no-doubt someone will not hesitate to point out) here & there but aside from the frames & engines it's mostly cosmetic. Should be an easy choice right?

well I went down to pick up the bike today. There was a slight snafu and the bike ended up shipped to denver after I put my deposit on it. When the dist settled.... I ended up with a '11 883 iron with 780 miles on the clock for $7200 out the door.... Not gunna complain about that too much. Hopefully my tax return gets me the 1200 conversion and forward controls lol.

thanks for the help guys
