I have one. I decided that this is protective equipment and not something to enhance looks. I use it on longer rides where the look of the bike is not as big a deal. I do not think it looks "good" but it does help protect the tank.
I would go for the protection of multiple layers of wax over a tank bra. I use Meguiars #26 yellow wax personally but there are a bunch of good stuff out there. If you do not put a couple good coats of wax on under the bra it could also cause scratches/rubbing marks in the paint over time.
I bought one for my bike, put it on. Never got it to fit right, and didn't like the look either. Just didn't seem worth it. Took it back a few days later.
Hey Rhinohd What air cleaner do you have on your bike? I'm looking to change mine and looking for something like that.
Thanks
I just took off the football cover, replaced it with an air cleaner insert and bought the chrome backing plate from HD. I have the SE air kit with a K&N (red). By the way and its only with the kit you can do this... I have an outerwears cover I keep in my bag incase it rains...
IMHO, Looks better on a Sportster. It's your scoot, $^#$ what everyone else thinks. I had one on my Sportster and it rubbed the paint on my tank around where the edge of the bra made contact with the tank...Be carefule of that, especially with the black paint.
