with a little dust getting under it and the wind and vibration it would do as much damage as your coat would, maybe more, sure screws up the paint on the nose of a car thats for sure, IMO the extra wax suggestion made earlier is the best route
The experience of having the bra act as a "scoop" and catch dust, then vibrating at speed caused minor abrasions to the tank -- and small hairline scratches on clear coat surface -- was enough for me to return it to the dealer with a complaint on the quality of "performance." It was only then that the parts person acknowledged that they had that complaint from several who had purchased the bra. WHY NOT TELL ME WHEN I BOUGHT IT?

My recommendation: 3M clear panels, just like those available for the front surfaces of your bike, applied to the tank near the seat. Or keep waxing and be careful...
The bra has always seemed like a good place to collect dirt & dust particles which then wear against the paint. I've always been of the mind that they do more harm than good, and seldom fit right. Same with the fairing & saddlebag lid bras...
