Haven't been on much lately because I'm between moving and didn't want to get or pay for the internet for such a short period of time.
I posted a while back that I was going to get an iron. Well I went with a 48 and couldn't be happier, but the seat is horrible! Only complaint... Looks good but so uncomfortable, and most of all, you slide back when you get on the gas if you're not holding on tight. I got a second job 45 highway miles away (saving money payments wise vs gas in the truck with this bike) so I wanted the 1200 and still plan on the 1250 conversion one day.
So far I've only added drag pipe slip ons and removed the front fender and reflectors. I had the 1k mile service done about 12 days after buying it, lol.
Next step is either XIED or a cobrapro (please feel free to discuss these amd what you would do), and then either a screamin eagle heavy breather or a PM fastair intake. I can get the SE kit much cheaper but have to put it together. Is this fairly simple and requires normal standard tools?
Anyways just wanted to stop by. I'll post pics but it will be later like possibly a couple weeks once I get moved in to my permanent place. I'm at the library right now.
Congrats on the bike.
I put the XIED on my bike. Very simple. Couldn't be easier. I also put on a V& H blackout 2-1 exhaust, and the SE intake. That's it for the engine. It sounds great, and runs like a scalded dog. I expected my millage to go down, but it didn't. I usually get over 50 mpg. Coming back from Sturgis it got 65 on the 1st tank. Mine is more setup for go than show. I moved the controls and changed the seat and shocks. The stock shocks are ****.
Sounds like me. I bought the 48, LOVE the bike, hate the seat. I put x14ieds, SE 2 slip ons and a ness big sucker on her straight away. Just bought but have yet to install a solo spring seat. 44 mpg for work commute is awesome compared to my 15 mpg Jeep...when i'm looking at $4.75 per gallon!
I slide off my seat also. Been looking at the HD spring seat and a rich Phillips. Some of rich Phillips seats kick up pretty high in the back to keep you in your seat. The xieds make me a little nervous. Debating about a pcv or xieds. Not planning on modifying engine just ac and exhaust.
