ORIGINAL: Barebackjack

Iride in leather sole cowboy boots all the time and have no problems. First, I don't use my feet as brakes or training wheels. Second, just put your rubber heel pad down instead of the sole and it works fine. I do try to avoid wearing a leather sole in the rain.
Jack, it's not that you can't do it. It's just that someday they're going to bite you in the ***. Just be a little out of kilter someday and the next thing you know is you'll be picking yourself and the bike up off the ground.

Where did you get the rifle scabbard? I could use one in my line of work.

Default RE: New boots!

I'm looking for a new pair of boots as I laid my Sportster down after being cut off in downtown Jacksonville 3 weeks ago and suffered a broken big toe on my left foot. The incident verified the importance of wearing helmet, boots, gloves, long sleeve shirt and long pants. I got road rash on both elbows and the left knee but thats to be expected when you roll your body along the asphault at 40+mph.
I'm thinking that if my boots had a steel toe my foot would still be bruised but the toe would not have fractured. Red Wing is one boot manufacturer that I will look at, are there other vendors I should check out? Rbump

Boots only in the winter. Sneekers in the summer.

I swear by Doc Martens. http://www.drmartens.com/
Great boots and if you have an office gig, you can find something that still looks professional.

I have steel toed Doc Martens, the old ones that were actually amde in England. Got em in a thrift store brand new. The new ones are made in china and are not as good quality. I also have Sidi On road sympatex boots which are great as well but could use some new soles soon.

anubiss, I agree that Doc's are not what they use to be. I've worn them since I was15... and well, we'll just say I'm not 15 anymore.
Today theleather is thinner and you can't buy your size and be 100% positive that they'll fit right. All in all still a good boot... which they would have kept manufacturingin England though.
