i agree with XL OCD!!! foot injuries on bikes are VERY common, and ya do not even have to "hit the hard $hit" for it to happen. unlevel terrain, slip on a wet manhole cover, and two-track riding. one roll of the ankle... he!!, i had a sprain from falling of a structure a few years ago. the doc said it would hurt less, and a quicker recovery time if it had actually broke. [:@]
also, it the $hit hits the fan, and the bike goes unstable, i guess i want a stable platform to land on.....

The problem with boots in my situtation is that I cannot get my toe under the shifter lever with some boots, I wear Carolina's(hiking boot) they work for me, pain in the *** to lace up and tuck in the laces, need a zip up boot, and still looking.
