I went out today to clean the bike. And my rear tire was flat. I looked at it and found a nail in it. It is near the middle of the tire. Would you have it patched or buy a new tire? The tire has some tread left, but it is 4 years old.
The tire size is 130/90 b-16. I have a 150/80 b-16 tire on another rim. I swapped out the rims and the bigger tire rubs on the belt. It is too wide. I want to use the rim with the 150/80 b-16 tire on it, but will the 130/90 b-16 tire fit that rim?
Also, what brand tires do you guys recommend for replacing it. I have always used Dunlop Harley tires. They run about $112 on ebay for a replacement. I have looked on-line and there are many other brands. Some are more money some are less money.
I can't say on tire size or what kind but 4 years old and got a hole. I would just replace the damn thing. Considering you only ride on 2 wheels I wouldn't trust a patched/pluged one.
03 and earlier Sporties take a 130, 04up run a 150.
Hardly a week goes by on here that there's not a "which brand" tire is best thread. Try a search.
The synopsis: Dunlop 401s suck, preferred are Metezler ME880s and Avon Venom.

So a new 130 tire will not fit on the rim that has the 150 tire?
We can fit an MT 130/90, MU 140/85 or 150/80 tyre on a 3" rim, but that does not mean to say there is the clearance for the extra width of the wider tyres when it is in the bike. If a 150 rubs anywhere and it is fitted true, we can't use it!

The 150/80 fit under the fender, but it rubbed on the belt. It is too wide. But the 130/90 (stock tire) has no problem. I want to put a 130/90 tire on the wheel that has the 150/80 tire on it.
I accidently ordered a 130/90 instead of the 150/80 for my Nightster. I put it on anyway and it fit the rim just fine. It does look funny with the wider rear fender but I am going to wear it out quick anyway and get 2 new ME880s
