Default 12" Street Glide shocks on a 1200 Low... do I need lowering blocks?

I've got some lightly used street glide air shocks on the way. I've got an 09 1200 Low, which should have 11.5" shocks from what I've read... so the 12" street glide shocks will raise me up slightly. Anyone else running this... is it noticeable? Are lowering blocks recommended?

I have a '09 1200L too. It came from the factory with 11.75" shocks. Many of the aftermarket upgrade shocks come in 0.5" increments, and the 11.5" is considered the replacement size closest to stock length. This is how you probably assumed the 1200L had a 11.5" shock.

That said, going with the 12" shock will not raise your seat ht by 0.25", just as going with the 11.5" progressive's didn't lower my bike by 0.25". The shock is at an angle, so the vertical change is going to be relative to the angle and the change in length of the shock. Bottom line, my bike only changed about 0.125" in height going from the 11.75" stock shock to the 11.5" progressives. I don't think you'll notice any significant/perceivable difference in seat height.

I have a 1200C which sounds like the same length stock shocks as your L... I didn't notice any height difference with the 12" SG air shocks when I installed them. I did notice how much better the ride was, big improvement.

Cool. Do you remember how many washers you used to get it all lined up? Any need for different (longer) bolts?

I had some stainless steel spacers made up at work, the are .188" thick, which I think is really close in thickness to 2 washers top and bottom. That seemed about right, one washer wasn't enough. I was able to reuse my stock bolts, the bottom one has some kind of locking nut, just make sure you see some thread through the end of it. I used blue loctite on the top bolt too just to be safe... it looked like some was on there from the factory when I removed it.
