Default Low Profile Shocks

I'm 5'7" with a 29 inch inseam and I can just barely flatfoot my Ultra Classic EG. I love the bike but would really appreciate more stable footing. I've tried the seat swap thing and it didn't help much. I was thinking of swapping out the shocks to lower the bike. I know about how this reduces the ability to lean the bike (not an issue as I ride pretty conservatively). Since I'm 160 and my wife is about 110, I also don't think I have to worry a lot about bottoming out the suspension.

Anyone have experience with lowering your touring bike? Good idea?

Stock shocks are 13" on a EG. I put 12 1/8" Ohlins shocks on my FLHTCUI and I improved the suspension with these shocks, so I lowered it and made the ride better. I also lowered the front 1" with racetech gold valve emulators. Not a cheap route to go, but it worked for me.

They do make a lowering kit that is cheap,http://www.amazon.com/Burly-Lowering.../dp/B002Q1F33U

What year is your bike?
I've been playing with Street Glide shocks and the newer , lower seat on my 09 Ultra.
I'm 5'8" with a 32" inseam and 155lbs.
Getting my feet to the ground isn't a problem , the weight of the bike and my age is more of what I was trying to deal with.
If you can do what you need with a seat change , go that route.
The Street Glide shocks will lower the bike , but the ride will suffer pretty much.
I ride pretty easy , and have never really touched down the floorboards , even with 1" wide spacers on the stock boards.
If money isn't tight , the Ohlins or the better progressive shocks might do well for you.
I will be getting rid of the 09 Street Glide shocks pretty cheap if you want to PM me.

If you have an 09 or later, don't waste money on the low profile air shocks. Get the premium ride shocks. 1000 times better ride than the short air shocks.

I am 5'5". I have the Reach (not super) Seat and HD Profile Lowers in the back. I am flat footed and comfortable. Did not lower the front. I do not scrape and I lean it hard when I teach the MSF courses.

I am 5'8" now with a 29' inseam. I tried the reach seat, but wound up with cramps. I dd the low profile front and back and went to the Sundowner seat and they both worked great. Leaning is not that big of a problem. even have the Vance and Hines Monster Ovals on the bike and have no problem leaning. I have hit the floor board or kick stand once or twice, but not hard.

After lowering it, even just that inch, the bike handled much better. The ride is not that bad and my wife and I weigh more than you guys.

Yeah I like the concept, but $3,500 is a bit much. Hell, I had a hard time digging into my wallet for my Legends Air Ride @$1,500.
