Default Shifter height adjustment - Proper procedure?

Forgive the noob question. It's my first HD.

I want to adjust the shifter height to allow for my boots. Is it as simple as it looks? Just loosen up the allen bolt and move it a few splines over? Will this cause any shifting issues?

Thank you!

Just break loose both hiem ends. Remove the one from the shifter . Adjust for your desired lenght and reinstall on your shifter. turn your linkage rod so you have equal amount of threads showing at BOTH hiem ends and tighten them up. THAT'S IT

Sorry that is for Forward controls ........I guess you could move it one spline notch but that would move it alot. And NO it will not cause any shifting issues.

Ok, so I tried it and ended up going back as I felt like I was reaching for it when shifting. Looking at it more, I now realize it's not the height of the shifter, but more where the shifter sits in relation to the peg. I feel like I have to point my toe inward to engage the shifter.

Is there a solution for this? It's really taking a toll on enjoying the ride as I am so focused on not missing the shifter.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Ok I am really stupid. It was the freaking BOOTS!

I put on some other boots and now there's no problems.I guess HD boots don' t always work on HD bikes!

I feel really dumb.
