Wont turn over
The stock coil wires were too short to reach the new location of the bracket. So i had to lift the tank cut the factory wire harness and untangle all the wires, What a pain that was. AfterI sorted all the wires out I had to spice the factory coil wires to add an extension. I couldn't believe how many wires were underneath the tank. Since I had all the wires exposed I decided this would be a perfect opportunity to reroute the ignition kit. The ignition relocation was the easiest part of all of this.
Since I had the tank off and harness cut, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to take off my speedo and tach that quit working a few months ago. I took off the speedo and tach along with the indicators lights. I plan of rewrapping them tomorrow. Why do the simplest jobs turn out to be the longest?
So this morning I get everything put back together and tried starting it.......it wont turn over..... I don't know where I went wrong.... I'm thinking the fuel pump was tied into the speedo because I would make a weird noise every time I turned the key on. It sounded as if it was priming or something. Does this sound right? Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Sorta beside the point now. What's important is to get you back running.
You are welcome to email or call the # on your invoice and the business card that was in the package.
In the meantime, from what you describe your are getting fuel, that is the fuel pump you hear when turning on the key.
It is probably spark that you are missing.
Two options-
1. You switched the fire so that when it is looking for spark on the front cylinder it is sending it to the rear. Use your old plug wires and switch it so the rear coil terminal is sending to the front cylinder and front coil terminal to the rear cylinder. If it starts up and runs, then you need to go back to your splice job and reverse the wires.
2. You are not getting any feed to your coil from the ecm. Make sure the plug is seated well in the coil. If that is not it, then before proceeding further pull one of your plugs and visually verify that spark is or is not happening at the plug. If it is not, you will need to check each connection on your splice to see which one(s) are not connected, or connected to the wrong wire.
