Has anyone that installed the Screamin Eagle Race Ignition had a problem with the speedo being way off after installation. Put one on my 2006 883 Custom and it is now off by about 20%.
Thanks for replies.
Normal w/ that ignition. I would've thought that HD would be offering a new module by now. It's caused by the different tranny in the '06. The gears are helical cut, the 04-05 gears were not. This causes the sensor to read the speed to fast. Return it to HD. Too many people are keeping them and not encouraging HD to make one that works w/ our bikes. I'm afraid that this problem may go unfixed. If the 07's have a completely different module (which I assume they do), and that SE one only works w/ 04-05, then us '06's are left by ourselves.
Take it back and get the Daytona Twin Tec TC88A. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. I LOVE mine, it's one of my favorite mods.
By the way, don't expect the guy at your parts counter to have any clue what you're talking about. His response will be "the book says it's the right one" . Have him put it in another 06 rental sporty and tell him to go for a ride. He should figure it out pretty quick.
Actually, I went by my dealer today, told him about it and that it was an issue from reading different forums and he said he was going to call Harly and see if they could put a S&S speedo recallibrator on my bike under warranty. I just wanted to make sure it was indeed an issue before I talk to him again. Thanks for the fast replies.
