Default oxygen sensor remaval trick??

Is there a easy way to remove the oxygen sensors from the head pipes without damage?

I put a set of slip-ons on the 48 yesterday. Would have been easier to remove the entire pipe, but I couldn't get the sensors out. Heat must have locked them in solid. Can they be unplugged anywhere?

What happens to them with a complete exhaust replacement?

i took out the header pipe, then used a big *** adjustable wrench that was as big as my forearm. And was able to get them off.

Make sure you soak the threads overnight with a good penetrating oil, like PB Blaster.

When I put my slip-ons on I took off the entire pipe. I just unplugged the sensor wire and took the entire piece off. It helped out when takeing off the stock mufflers big time. you must have had a time getting the mufflers while the header pipe was still on the bike.

Just follow the wires. They are just like the auto versions from what I've seen. Also, +1 on the soak with WD40 or PB, let 'em sit overnight and soak a couple times.

This ^^^

You could also remove the sensors while the bike is HOT. Go for a ride and get it warmed up, the exhaust will expand and loosen on the threads a little bit. Or you could go the torch route... but you may mess up your chrome w/too much heat.

If you're still having trouble finding the plugs, look up the thread on VIED/XIED install, he shows the locations in there.
