Default MC Question

So I know this is the Sportster forum but I love this forum and everyone always seems to have either smartass remarks or very helpful information, so Im giving this a shot.

How hard is it to get an MC started?

There are very few MCs in my area (Imperial Valley, California) and most of them are for law enforcement or fire department. I know of one MC out here called the TOP HATTERS and they actually have chapters in other parts of the state but hte chapter down here isnt very active.

Im 27 years old, Army Veteran, I gotta say I really miss the brotherhood of the Army and I know that being in an MC could help fill this void.

any comments or even information about MCs possibly in my area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Top Hatters have Chapters in other states too.

Have you ruled out becoming a member of one of the hundreds of Clubs who are established? Have you looked into Clubs and decided none of them are right for you? If you start your own club, who would you go to to learn what you need to know to be a successful Club? How about the multitude of Veteran and Army vet Clubs that have been around for years and decades? Have you checked out all of them and none of them was a fit for you?

These are the sort of questions you will be asked. Have good answers. Have you attended any CoC meetings? A huge amount of work goes into beginning a new Chapter of an existing Club, much less starting a brand new Club.

An MC is fairly easy to start, dealing with the other MCs while just starting might be your problem. Have you looked into Riding Clubs?

If you are an OEF or OIF vet (assuming you are) there is the Sandspitters. They assist in starting clubs it is for OEF and OIF vets only as members. It took off decent in Michigan I am sure there is a chapter in Cali somewhere. I never joined because I am lazy. Always talked bout it though. Maybe its something your interested in maybe not. Good luck brother.http://www.thesandspitters.com/
