i just did my oil change today, I purchased 3 qt and it took around 2.8 qt.

Mine took exactly 2qts. TOTAL to be @ the 1/2 mark on dipstick.

I'm sure every bike is a little different, but as a reference ('02 1200) I just did an oil change and used 88oz, including the 4oz added to the filter and allowing the engine to run a minute after adding the first 2 quarts. I used SAE 20W-50 and went for mid-way between the high/low marker on the dipstick.

Have to say that this thread has me wondering now if the oil level markings on my temperature gauge reservoir cap are incorrect. But I guess that since my breather is staying clean and there's no oil in the air filter my bike's happy with what I've been doing. *shrug*
