Default Replacement bolts for lower shocks?

I just stripped the head of my lower shock torque screw while I was trying to change out my shocks. Would anyone know the replacement part for it? I have a 2007 Nightster. Would I be able to replace it with just a bolt instead of a torque screw?

1/2 - -20 UNF 2 1/2"

That's the size for the lower bolt.

Don't forget to get grade 8 bolts

I replaced mine with 2.75" hex head bolts because I'm running street glide shocks and a side mount license plate... needed the longer bolt

I was trying to do the same thing (RK 12" shocks) and this happend. So bummed. How many washers did you use? Is it 2.75" on both right and left bottom shocks?

I put 3 washers on the bottom of each shock (between shock and swing arm), none on top, kept the original washers on the outside both top and bottom.

2.75" will work on both sides... it sticks out a little further on the right side since I have the side mount license plate (figure machine) on the left. But the extra length doesn't hurt anything, and can be trimmed with a dremel or hacksaw pretty easily if it bothers you. Just make sure you have enough length that it passes through the locking nut on the other side!

You can get bolts at your local Ace Hardware........ Get grade 5 or above. Those grades resist rusting better than lower grades. Stainless is fine too.
