My 2010 48 suspension is beating me to death. I have put on Progressive 212's, not much improvment. There are too many seats just to order one from a catalog. The spring seat looks great (but expensive) Wondered if it improves the ride very much. Definitely need a different seat. suggesstions?
I have the iron and had the same problems with the stock seat so I went and changed
the shocks to the 212's as well with little help, I bought the Rich Philips spring seat and
for me it made a huge difference, I am 5'5 and 150lbs and have the 2" seat springs, you can get different size springs. hope this helps
if you get the spring seat, don't use the springs and rigid mount it with some rubber bushings. assuming you meant 412's? my seat only cost me 75$, not expensive by any means.
I have a motherroad custom spring seat. It has 2 inch hairpin springs on it. I left the springs because I have artifact in the back. I didn't like the feel of springs and rear suspension though. I love the seat for small trips, but over 2 hrs my *** really starts to hurt. But I will take it cause I love the way it looks!

Ah! sorry for the hijack, but you probably just solved my issue. I come off the seat 4-6" on a bump at anything over 90-100KPH...but I DID NOT tie the rubber mount I made to the frame...so basically I'm only connected at the tank mount. After adding Ohlins HD145e's I thought it would improve. It didn't and this is probably why...
Time to take the rubber mount I made and connect it to the frame...there's a hole there, by god...but I thought it was for stashing crack!

Dear Dafy, the rear shocks of my Nightster (stock) are worst than awful. So I changed them for a pair of Progressive 444. Almost the same. I was ordering a pair of Ohlins HD 145E till I saw your post. The 48 and Nightster have a identical frame, so your experience is very important for me, cause I have already spent 500 in those Progressive. (I have a 1948 Panhead with rigid frame, and the ride is much much better)
Awaiting eagerly your opinion. BR Martin
I am looking for a brown harley spring seat (sorry for the hijack). If anyone has one or knows one for sale pm me. I can't see buying a new one with the mixed reviews.
