Default HD VIP Program?

I have a few questions for the forum. First let me say that I have a 2012 883 Iron with 420 miles on it and I love the bike. Second, I am unfortunately going through a divorce and need to sell the bike. I paid $8,000 for the bike, plus $2,000 for the HD VIP program, $2,000 for a 72 month extended service plan and another $2,000 for taxes, freight and handling. In summary, I paid $14,000 for the bike. I love the bike but I have to get rid of it. So my questions to the forum are does anyone know if the VIP program and the 72-month extended service plan are transferrable to a new owner? I am basically willing to sell the bike for $12,000 or so which will give someone a brand new bike with the VIP program and the 72-month service plan if those are transferrable. So does anyone know if they are? If not, does anyone have any tips on how to sell the bike through the forum? I went to the HD dealer and they told me they couldn't try to help me sell it, but they can do something called a finance assist for any new buyers; basically refinance the bike probably for the new owner. Any help is appreciated on this one.

Thanks.

Harley's extended warranty is transferable. Some dealers will sell on consignment.
14 grand for an 883? Bad news, and I don't want to be cruel, but it sounds like you got fleeced. Good luck getting 12. Maybe you can get a pro-rated refund on the extended warranty and sell it touting the transferable 2 year factory warranty.

TMK, the VIP and extended service plans are transferable. BUT, I would call the dealer or MoCo and find out if the 2 plans can be cancelled and refunded. That will likely be on a pro-rated basis, but the loss should be minimal.

Your 2-3 month old bike still has plenty of warranty left to cover a prospective buyers concerns.

IMO, adding $4,000 in extra coverage, on top of the factory 2 yr warranty, on an $8,000 bike is insane, and I doubt any buyer in their right mind is going to pay you squat to pickup that coverage.
These $4,000 extended service plans may work out well for the buyer of a $30,000 touring bike (<20% of the purchase price) that rides 20,000+ miles a year, but on an $8K Sporty, no way.

Boy, they saw you comin a mile away. To finance $14k for a 883 Sportster is just wrong in every sense of the word. I am sure it is transferable, but pigs will fly before you find someone to pay $12k for a used Iron.

Fvck all that extended warranty and service plan in the first place, but if I was going to buy that I sure would have insisted the cut the "set up fee", and give me some free ****.

I took mine OTD for $8750 and got a $1k HD gift card.

Sorry about your divorce and the pickle you are in, some days are better than others.

+1 on what cHarley wrote above:

What does the VIP program give you? I can't imagine paying $2000 extra for something.

Is the bike paid off? I thought they couldnt take stuff that has a lein on it in a divorce. Why dont you try to keep it and if your spouse did win it in the divorce. Screw it they have the payments to deal with.

Unless you need it to pay for court cost and stuff then totally ignore everything above.

Hate to say it and hate to see someone in such a pickle but cHarley is absolutely spot on. I would be VERY surprised if someone is going to pay that kind of money for a sporty. In fact, I cant believe a bank would finance that amount of money for an Iron unless you used HD financing.
