I've ordered this product from Motherwell in March 2011 for $146 including shipping cost ($56!!!). I had to pay extra duty TAX in UK of £38 (approx. $59!!!).
I've experienced long delay with delivery and lack of communication with incompetent staff. Overall I was hoping im getting the right product. Unfortunately after couple of weeks paint start coming off the rack! I've discovered that there was only one coat of powder coating of rough unprepared stell materials. Welding has not been finished to the highest standard but peeling paint and rust become huge problem.
After 5 months from purchase I've sent complaint and feedback with serious quality issue. It goes nowhere as they dont care about clients and issues with poor quality. How such a fault could pass quality checks? Did anyone experienced the same problem? They refusing to replace or refund saying that their return policy is 60 days - now I understand why is only 60 days () Any similar issues? AVOID this company or be aware of what you're buying!
I was very tempted by the Motherwell rack but I still went for the HD rack and I'm happy I did that because it is a top quality rack with an excellent finish on it.
Thanks for the heads up. I am getting ready to get a rack and I will not bother looking at their products A faulty rack is one thing, everybody has a few things slip out the door from time to time. That kind of customer service .....for get it.

Not seen any issues such as this before now. If the customer service issue is true it would be unfortunate. My rack fits perfectly with no imperfections.
I'm not expert on powder coating, but it looks to me like a bad prep job before the powder coat was applied. The fact that Motherwell won't warranty it speaks poorly of Motherwell IMO.
This is from a powder coating forum.
What are the main causes for a powder coated finish to peel/flake off the surface?
The main reason for powder to peel or flake off the substrate is due to lack of adhesion between the powder and the substrate. This can be caused in a number of ways such as poor surface preparation, where the surface may be contaminated with oils, paints, chemical sealers, etc. Under curing is also another issue with peeling powder coat. Powder which is under cured lacks many of the mechanical properties of a cured powder. Aesthetically, the powder finish may look great however it will have poor adhesion and be quite brittle which makes it susceptible to chipping, cracking and flaking off from the substrate.
