Default Downshift problem ?

When I downshift from second to first it gets hung up in neatrul. I have nothing below neutral so I have to go back to second and then I can kick it down to first. It doesn't happen always but it happens at least once every time I go out. 2010 1200c.... Think it is the start of something ? Help...

fourburgs, are you still moving when you make the shift into first? I always shift into first just before coming to a complete stop. Otherwise, I have to rock the bike forward a little to get it to drop in.

Sounds like you may be in need of a clutch adjustment.

Also, if you will switch to Mobil-1 gear oil 75 w 90, everything about the tranny will work smoother.

I got exact same problem (lost 1st gear) when I am trying to shift down to 1st gear while the bike speed is above 20mph. With high speed, it is hard to shift to 1st gear, so I shift to nature intsead and end up I lost 1st gear. Now I only shift down to 1st gear when bike comes close to stop completely.
