Default speedometer relocated part 2

originally i had reversed the speedometer in the housing , flipped the risers 180 degrees to get rid of that hockey puck look . it worked nicely over the tank & refueling was no issue as well as reading the speedo itself .

fast forward : newly installed handlebars & now those 5.5 inch risers were just a bit too much so in order to lower the bars the speedometer had to go .
I saw a lot of people on here move theirs using the "Auto Meter" clamp as did I & for $15 on a Harley mod , what the hell ! Not every HD mod has to be "hundred dollars " ?

I removed speedometer from the holder , used a band saw to cut the bracket with indicator lights from the housing . I ground the remaining welds down & ground the now crescent shaped bracket straight . both pieces will need new crinkle paint as you can see in the close up the grind marks . The indicator bar will need more refining , it's not exactly straight or I may go a different route in mounting.
I used a stainless steel pipe clamp with as much non threaded stock as I could . I put a scrap of rubber between the black bracket & the fork tube to keep it from slipping & cut the excess clamp off , leaving enough slack in case i have to dismantle down the road.

waiting for new 3" risers to lower the bars & tidy up the wiring harness & touch up the paint.

Default one more angle

unfortunately I can't go any lower than 3.5" from 5.5" on risers or I will hit the tank & dent my new paint job .
