Hi, hope someone out there can help.... are all rear wheels interchangeable as long as the bearings & axles are the same size? Looking to fit an 18" rear wheel to my 2004 sporty. this particular wheel fits Fxd from 2000-2006 & has 3/4" bearings which are the same as the 04 sporty. Thanks.
Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. I think the answer is that not all Harley wheels are the same. A pal of mine recently changed his Sporty wheels and IIRC they had the same screw threads both sides for mounting the brake disc/rotor and pulley. Big twins have larger size bolts to hold on the pulley.
Wheels that take the sealed bearings (earlier ones were tapered rollers) are interchangeable from 3/4" to 1" and 25mm (they all have the same OD). I've just changed a Deuce rear wheel over from 3/4" to 1", but that also required machining the hub for a larger diameter spacer between the bearings.
