Wow, glad your ok for the most part, that looks like it hurt man.
What is your riding experience, how may years been riding ?, ever been down before?
Smart of you to wear your gear, I hate wearing it in the heat but like you said it kept you from leaving a lot of skin at the scene.
That helmet scarring looks nasty, imagine if you hadn't had a helmet on?
Man to think how often I ride without it arrogantly thinking I don't need it is making me re-think that policy after yours and a few others posts lately.
Cant say you were lucky, you were smart and took safety precautions and it might have saved your life, it surely saved you from a lot more damage than you might have had.
So you said it happened in April, and you haven't been riding, you think your going to get back on two wheels now that you are healing? or are you gun shy after the spill?
They say there two kinds of riders, those who have been down and those who are going down, so look at it like, at least you got that out of the way and have a new found respect for gravel.
good post man, again sorry to hear what you went through but glad it could have been so much worse and you avoided that, I bet your wife was happy you wore your gear too.
You know I am looking more closely at your helmet, I never wear a full face, always a little half helmet or a German style army helmet, I wonder if it would have protected much at that angle and point of impact, it is just above the bottom edge of my helmet, dammit I really need to re-evaluate my riding gear.
We dont have a helmet law and I appreciate the choice I really do and almost out of a sense of freedom a lot of people here tend not to wear them because you don't have to, I see way more helmet less riders than the other way around, but on these boards we are exposed to so many riders and their experiences as compared to just the people we see and meet on the road that it really makes you think.
OUCH!
Glad that you were smart and wearing good gear. That alone SAVED you in more ways than one.
STAY SMART (I already know you will)
Like someone mentioned at least your bag is distressed now, all THAT can be replaced.
Take care.
